Having a dry January ?

We tried it for an evening and found it an overrated experience. For us, a snifter or three of an evening brings forth the weariness required for a decent night's sleep, whereas not-a-jot led to a pretty restless and frustrating eight hours. Perhaps we're just not busy enough at work this month to attain sufficient fatigue to reach the land of nod without soporifics, but we won't be trying that one again for a while, whatever moronic advice exudes from some government department that really ought to have better things to do with its time (and our money !). We would say this, of course, because we're wine merchants and our income depends on it, but we believe that alcohol in moderation is unlikely to do anyone any lasting harm. Now, where did we put that bottle of Oloroso Sherry........
