Bâtard Montrachet Grand Cru 1999 Maison Louis Latour

Maison Louis Latour's website https://www.louislatour.com/en/wines/15/batard-montrachet-grand-cru/1999 gives little guidance as to optimum drinking windows for their wines, but Robert Parker, tasting this one some time around 2000-2001, awarded it 91-92 points and projected a maturity of 2002-2008. So, to save us having to crack one or two open at our expense, let's just assume that this will be 'old'. We're also going to assume that's it's drinkable because, let's face it, a lot of old white Burgundy has turned out to be disappointing to say the least, and we don't want to leave a sour taste in anyone's mouth, literally or figuratively. We know it's spent its whole life in professional storage in either Burgundy or Barking, rather than the cupboard above the cooker in granny's cottage, which surely puts it in good stead. So, the possibility of a life changing experience for less than half the price of an hour at Stratford Saunas, and the guarantee of your money back if it turns out we're selling vinegar. Or we'll work something out if it's just very disappointing. Discounts may be available if purchased with other wines
