Beaujolais
Beaujolais seems to be experiencing something of a revival after a number of years in the doldrums. We suspect that this had a lot to do with with the public's exposure to Beaujolais Nouveau and the hangover which followed. The current favourite of the 'Villages' is undoubtedly Fleurie, though why this particular appellation should be quite so much more popular than all the others remains a mystery. The region, sadly, continues to produce a quantity of wine destined for the 'discount' markets, however there are some exceptional wines being produced, a selection of which is listed below, and prices no longer seem to be dear compared with other regions of France

Beaujolais Villages 2008, Domaine des Grandes Bruyeres 6.60 79.20 supple, graceful & zestful, from a 50 acre estate just outside the Brouilly appellation and made from vines with an average age of 50 years
Julienas 2009, Jean Pierre Teissedre 8.82 105.84 a rich & aromatic wine, typical of the cru, for drinking young or ageing
Cote de Brouilly 2010, Les Grandes Bruyeres 8.82 105.84 light, smooth & juicy wine from a well established grower & winemaker
Chiroubles 2009, Jean Pierre Teissedre 9.18 110.16 an elegant wine from the highest of the Beaujolais crus with vivid red fruit flavour
Morgon 2009, Jean Pierre Teissedre 9.18 110.16 a weightier, more Burgundian style of Beaujolais but still stylish and with finesse
Brouilly 2010, Les Grandes Bruyeres 9.42 113.04 fresh & well balanced wine with good weight and lovely red fruit flavours, from a small estate in St Etienne des Oullieres
St Amour 2009, Jean Pierre Teissedre 10.02 120.24 rounded & harmonious with lovely floral flavours and very light tannin
Fleurie 2010, Les Grandes Bruyeres 10.02 120.24 a ripe & supple wine, lightly oaked, from one of the best vineyards in Beaujolais
Brouilly 2010, Domaine du Lavoir, Pierre Janny 10.32 123.84 lovely, lighter style of Brouilly from an excellent grower
Prices are all inclusive of VAT
Minimum order is one case (of 12 bottles or equivalent) which may be mixed from any of our wines listed
Delivery is free for all orders within our own delivery area (currently London and most surrounding counties) and for 3+ case orders throughout the remainder of the UK, excluding Highlands & Islands (please enquire for rates). Orders of less than 3 cases sent by third party carrier will be charged at cost or below (around £5.20 per case excluding VAT)
