Chateau Les Hauts de Perey 2005, Bordeaux Superieur 5.01 60.16 this wine continues to gain wider customer approval (halves) 2.85 68.50 a light style of Claret, and very good value
Chateau Raveaux 2006, 1eres Cotes de Blaye 6.26 75.08 on the Right Bank, north of Pomerol & St Emilion, this relatively (halves) 3.55 85.19 new appellation is a good source of quality claret at very good prices. Largely Merlot, but the cooler climate produces a less 'jammy' wine than those to the south
Chateau de L'Hurbe 2001, Bordeaux Superieur 6.67 80.02 from a privately owned Chateau where the proprietor pays a lot of attention to quality. Subtle tannins & good bottle age
Chateau Vignolles Peyroulet 2002, Graves 7.28 87.30 elegant & well structured wine, with good oak and a certain richness. 35% Cab Sauv, 35% Merlot, 15% Malbec & 15% Carmenere
Chateau Cilorn 2003, Bordeaux Superieur 7.41 88.95 from the same stable as Chateau La Claymore and made from the younger vines from in and around Lussac St Emilion, 80% Merlot with Cabernets Sauvignon & Franc, light use of oak, this is a wine tasting significantly above its nominal appellation
Chateau Robert 2000, Cotes de Bourg 5.88 70.56 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 80% Merlot, earthy character, still with some tannin, lightly oaked and just coming up to its best
Chateau Rocher Calon 2006, Montagne St Emilion 8.01 96.12 95% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, a full bodied wine, (halves) 4.55 109.04 dark & rich with plummy fruit and subtle tannins
Chateau Terre Rouge 2002, Cru Bourgeois Haut Medoc 8.07 96.82 strong, impressive Claret with splendid depth (halves) 4.72 113.27
Chateau de la Nauve 2005, St Emilion 8.68 104.11 really good full St Emilion at an extremely attractive price
Les Caleches de Lanessan 2001, Haut Medoc 9.08 108.92 Chateau Lanessan only started making a second wine in 1999 and Les Caleches offers superb value. 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and aged for 18 months in 30-50% new French oak, an ample bodied wine in a very traditional style
Chateau des Treilles L'Embarre 2003, Lalande de Pomerol 7.25 87.00 typical earthy Pomerol quality and has matured early
Chateau La Tour Blanquet 2003, St Estephe 7.64 91.68 typical toughness of a St Estephe with ample fruit
Chateau Tour Granins Grand Poujeaux 2005, Moulis 9.08 108.92 2nd wine of Chateau Granins, from some of the younger vines, 45% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petit Verdot, partially aged in oak, young & supple and ideal for current drinking
Chateau de Sainte Gemme 1996, Cru Bourgeois Haut Medoc 9.27 111.27 Situated in Cussac Fort-Medoc and originally part of Chateau Lachesnaye, Sainte Gemme was given its own identity in 1981. Made from 50% Merlot, 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20 months in oak, this is a well rounded wine with good body, lovely age and currently drinking extremely well
Chateau de Sainte Gemme 2000, Cru Bourgeois Haut Medoc 9.65 115.74 quite similar in style to the 1996 (above), a bit fuller and slightly more tannin, will keep
Les Caleches de Lanessan 2000, Haut Medoc 9.65 115.74 more weight than the 2001 (above) and from a classic vintage, a traditional style of claret with obvious class
Chateau L'Enclos Bonis 2002, St Estephe 9.69 116.33 quite a forward wine, and ready for drinking now, 2004 (magnums) 19.58 117.50 smooth & well balanced with a firm structure
Chateau La Claymore 2004, Lussac St Emilion 10.02 120.20 has the quality of a full St Emilion, rather than a (halves) 5.46 131.13 Lussac St Emilion, with subtle oak & really splendid depth of flavour
Chateau Pierrefitte 2005, Lalande de Pomerol 10.12 121.38 one of the oldest properties in Lalande de Pomerol, made with the assistance of Michel Rolland, 80% Merlot, 10% each Cabernets Sauvignon & Franc, a rich wine, still youthful in style, with intense aromas of red fruit & cacao and elegant, earthy flavours
Chateau Saransot Dupre 2002, Cru Bourgeois, Listrac 10.31 123.73 Yves Raymond is notable in his efforts to make wine in a traditional style and still uses quantities of Carmenere and Petit Verdot, varieties fast disappearing from the region. The wines are complex and elegant, medium bodied and with sufficient flavour without being too 'upfront'. The Grand Vin has only recently been upgraded to Cru Bourgeois Superieur, a reflection of the quality being achieved here
Chateau Saransot Dupre 2001, Cru Bourgeois, Listrac 10.32 123.85 a similar wine to the 2002 but with a little more maturity and, as a result, slightly softer tannins, a more pronounced nose and extra complexity

Chateau Cabanes 2006, Graves Sec 6.26 75.08 one of a number of properties in the Graves region owned by the Sevenet family. 70% Semillon, 30% Sauvignon, a dry & fruity wine with floral bouquet and soft, delicate flavour
Chateau Beauregard Ducasse 2006, Graves Sec 7.14 85.66 owned by the Perromat family since 1850, situated in the north of the Graves region, 60% Sauvignon, 40% Semillon from 20 year old vines, brilliant yellow colour, lovely floral aromas and dry, elegant flavour with crisp acidity
Chateau Saransot Dupre 2005, Bordeaux Sec 9.65 115.74 white Medoc is quite a rarity these days and, as with his reds, Yves Raymond is determined to retain the original Listrac style : 60% Semillon, 30% Sauvignon, 10% Muscadelle, all from old vines and aged in oak, producing a dry and very elegant wine with good body
Chateau Lafont Menaut 2006, Pessac Leognan 11.41 136.89 80% Sauvignon, 20% Semillon, this is very fine, elegant & rich

Chateau Crabitan Bellevue 2001, Sainte Croix du Mont (50cl) 8.03 96.25 on the east bank of the Garonne, to the south of Loupiac and opposite Sauternes, Sainte Croix du Mont shares the same ideal conditions for producing dessert wine, but tends to offer better value. 100% Semillon, with good weight & richness, hints of apricot & honey, and excellent balancing acidity
Chateau La Bertrande 2001, Loupiac (50cl) 9.20 110.45 95% Semillon, 5% Muscadelle. Great value
Chateau Lamourette 2002, Sauternes 19.00 227.95 while not being a classic year in Sauternes, 2002 still produced some very good wines. This is medium weight with a concentrated palate of caramel and butterscotch, but also a touch of citrus and an overall youthful feel
Chateau Lamourette 1996, Sauternes 19.00 227.95 elegance & finesse to the fore, very reminiscent in style to a good Barsac
Chateau d'Arche 1991, 2me Cru Classe Sauternes 30.16 361.90 conditions in 1991 were such that very little Sauternes was made, yet this is quite delicious Sauternes produced by the most vigorous selection
