Who are we ?

Rodney Fletcher Vintners is a family owned, independent, Kent based wine importer based in Horsmonden, near Tunbridge Wells I In 1956, after a brief stint at Kleinwort Benson in the City of London, Rodney Fletcher joined his father, Wyndham, at the port house Cockburn Smithes. From there, he moved to Cock Russell, before setting up on his own in the early 1970s. He is a Liveryman of the Vintners Company and a Freeman of the City of London.......... ........His son, Tim Fletcher spent three years working for David Gilmour at the Pavilion Wine Company at Finsbury Circus in the City before moving into derivatives broking at Charterhouse Tilney, then studying law at the University of East Anglia, followed by eight years back in the City at GNI, two of which were spent on the LIFFE market, waving his hands around and shouting a lot. What do we do ?

We sell wine. To anyone over the age of eighteen who wants to pay for it. We are happy to sell to the trade, to institutions and to private customers. While we truly believe that the primary purpose of wine is to be drunk, we welcome enquiries from customers wishing to invest, usually from our en primeur list, and can provide storage facilities accordingly. We import the majority of our wines direct from their producers, but we are happy to buy through the various agencies in order to obtain the right wines for our customers. We are also actively involved in the 'wine trade', in order to maintain an interesting and competitively priced bin end & fine wine list for our customers, without having to keep vast amounts of capital tied up in such wine. We frequently buy wine from private cellars and, if we are not personally interested in the wine, are happy to recommend others who might be

Free Delivery

Our team of drivers covers Kent, Sussex, Surrey, London, most of Hampshire, Essex, Middlesex, Hertfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire on a weekly basis. Less frequently, we also go to Suffolk, Norfolk, Oxfordshire and Wiltshire and, for larger orders, can deliver further afield. Deliveries made by our own drivers are free and, if we can deliver it ourselves, we will. For orders which have to be sent by third party carrier, a small charge may have to be made. We don't like having to do this but, in our experience, cheap carriers break something almost every time and are a false economy. We therefore use better couriers and ask that, for orders of under 3 cases, customers make a small contribution towards the cost, usually around £4 ex VAT per case. Minimum order is for a case (of 12 bottles), which can be mixed. We do, occasionally 'bend' this rule. If we stock something you want, just enquire

We are happy to supply wine to customers abroad and can put them in touch with freight companies who can advise on the necessary paperwork etc

Our Customers

We seem to be approached by an ever-increasing range of companies wanting to purchase our wine, and are always open to new ideas and outlets. Currently, just over 85% of our sales are to the 'on trade' and other resellers, the remainder being split between private customers and corporate and institutional customers We offer an en primeur service and can provide storage for wine. We offer free glass loan and sale or return for functions. We are also happy to assist customers in selling wine, either purchasing ourselves or putting them in touch with someone else who will. The lists on this site are not exhaustive and we have 50 years experience in the 'trade', so that, if you are looking for something in particular, we can usually find and supply it at a competitive rate.
