Alsace wines are another of those sectors about which 'the trade' has always raved but have nevertheless failed to enter the mainstream. The region, with its turbulent history of changing hands between France and Germany, produces some very distinct wines which, while far more French in content, are sometimes confused with those from neighbouring Germany due to their appearance, labelling and the use of some very German sounding grape varieties. This is, however, where the similarities end and the wines listed below provide an excellent opportunity for those wishing to acquaint themselves with something a little different

Pinot Blanc Auxerrois Prestige 2008, Michel Wust, Cave de Cleebourg 8.04 96.48 just off dry, an intense & quite rich wine with superb length and lovely bouquet, made from this lower yielding cousin of Pinot Blanc

Riesling Prestige 2009, Michel Wust, Cave de Cleebourg 8.28 99.36 attractive & rich, with lovely floral nose and subtle hints of pears & apples

Pinot Gris Prestige 2008, Michel Wust, Cave de Cleebourg 9.48 113.76 probably the most complex of Alsatian grape varieties, Pinot Gris (Tokay) is particularly well suited to the soils of the Cleebourg area, producing a heady, full bodied wine with almost creamy texture and just a hint of acidity

Gewurztraminer Prestige 2009, Michel Wust, Cave de Cleebourg 9.78 117.36 delicious example of this style and grape. Perfect with spicy food

Cremant d'Alsace, Michel Wust, Cave Cleebourg 11.16 133.92 delicious dry sparkling wine, made in the 'traditional' manner and a superb alternative to Champagne

Gewurztraminer Grand Cru Brand 2009, Cave de Turckheim 17.22 206.64 intense bouquet and rich fruit balanced by fine acidity

Minimum order is one case (of 12 bottles or equivalent) which may be mixed from any of our wines listed

Delivery is free for all orders within our own delivery area (currently London and most surrounding counties) and for 3+ case orders throughout the remainder of the UK, excluding Highlands & Islands (please enquire for rates). Orders of less than 3 cases sent by third party carrier will be charged at cost or below (around £5.20 per case excluding VAT)
